Rick Masters can feel the beads of sweat form at his brow. Years behind the news desk under the hot studio lights and he has never felt so nervous before. Communication being sketchy the last 48 hours has kept him on the edge of a breakdown.
First the Solar Flair quiets the world, and if that wasn’t news enough, First Lady Miller has had a second attempt at her life. But the info he was getting now was causing knots to form in his stomach. If it were to be believed, more than sixty Extraordinaries had been killed in one type of accident or another in the past twenty four hours.
What would cause so many freak occurrences to happen all at once? He continued to scan the list of names before the camera snapped back on from the commercial break. His eyes caught on one name midway down the list and his heart froze. Jenny “Sun Girl” Coltrane.
“We now return to Omaha channel 14 local news. Now reporting Rick Masters.”
Rick didn’t immediately look up into the camera. His eyes were focused on the list he held in his hand. Long moments passed and the studio crew grew worried, not knowing what was wrong. Finally Rick slowly straightened up and looked deep into the camera lenses. He ran his fingers through his short auburn hair, unaware that the cameras were rolling.
“We almost back on the air guys?” As if coming out of a fog Rick could begin to hear the director in his earpiece trying to prompt him.
“Ahh yes. Excuse me everyone. Continuing our coverage of First Lady Miller's assignation attempt. . . I’m sorry everyone. I just can’t do this . . . If the reports are true President Miller is safe and being kept in an undisclosed hospital.
“However that’s not the top story tonight. Reports are coming throughout the country that Extraordinaries have been killed. . . and no foul play has been determined in any of the cases as of yet.”
Pausing before he can continue, Rick takes a deep breath. He's oblivious to the fact that he’s been crying the last few moments as he has been reporting the news.
“. . . Cut to commercial . . . I said cut to damn Commercial . . . I can’t do this. . . No I said I can’t do this you fool. . . Damn it one of those Extraordinaries was my sister.”
Weeping nearly uncontrollably, Rick Masters gets up from behind his desk and storms off the news set.
“We are sorry to report that Omaha Channel 14 local news is experiencing some technical difficulties and will be right back after these messages.”

Watchdog 213
June 12th, 2014
Watchdog 213, Janet Ulrich
Subject: Nano Saskai
Location Mumbai, India
Threat Level: Alpha
After receiving my assignment I was promptly sent to India this morning. Upon arriving I met up with Watchdog 187 Samuel Brock and Watchdog 199 Rick Marhan. I have obtained copies of Samuel Brocks files pertaining to Nano Saskai and added them to the dossier I have been issued on her life.
I am requesting that Watch Guard begin a complete background check on Nano, her closest friend and a detailed work up on her family history going back at least three generations.
Her close association with the U.S. President is of great concern. Bad enough an Extraordinary is in office having madam Saskai being able to sway public opinion from pure humans is a bit much.
Hours after arriving in India Samuel, Rick and myself began trailing the three subjects out of Mumbai.

Watchdog 213, Janet Ulrich
Subject: Nano Saskai
Location Mumbai, India
Threat Level: Beta
7:00am
With the reports of bandits Mr. Brock has kept us a respectable distance from the subjects. Using the onboard computer I managed to gain access to the local satellite feeds. The quality of the signal is piss poor to say the least. I strongly recommend we begin renegotiating with FarTech supplies again. It is my understanding that they have greatly improved on the newest model of stealth satellite.
11:30am
Infrared imaging has detected signatures on the road ahead. By my estimation I would say three trucks and a full host of mercenaries to go with the trucks.
12:15pm
As of this afternoon Nano Saskai has been reclassified with a threat level Beta. I witnessed as she managed to cut through a cycle suit and remove the arm of its driver. Also where as the Extraordinary known as Hank walked away with multiple bruises and contusions from his encounter with the Lamda level threat, Nano Saskai showed no signs of harm. The fact that Saskai managed to deal the killing strike to the Lamda threat has me considering moving her to a Gamma level threat. Will continue to catalog the nature of her powers in hopes of refining her threat level.
Early observations indicate it may take high grade armor piercing rounds to puncture the ectoplasmatic barrier that she controls.
Her flight abilities are rudimentary at best but may improve in time.
Request access to a Neuro-Inhibiter. The brief focused pulse will disorientate the subject causing a sense of vertigo. I see no need to use it at this time but I wish to be prepared if the subject needs to be dealt with.
12:35pm
The Lamda level threat managed to survive its encounter. After a quick and decisive discussion it was agreed that the Lamda threat be dispatched.
Watchdog 187 dealt with the subject and she no longer poses any form of threat.
5:00pm
We will be arriving in Bangalore by sunset. If the events of this afternoon are any indication of the hazards that are to come I believe that we may for some difficult times.
